Logo fun!!

A friend of mine was nice enough to embroider a few things for me... I love this fluffy pink robe with my pink H on it.

She also embroidered a few shirts for Craig to wear to weddings, love it!

Vacation!!

We had the most amazing, wonderful time on our vacation last week. We spent the week on Tybee Island, Georgia (near Savannah). Tybee is a small, non-commercial island... without any crowds!!

We hit the beach as soon as we arrived, the weather was perfect.

This was the cottage we rented with my parents.

Unfortunately, there aren't any images of my wonderful husband and I alone (we're always the ones taking the pictures), but I like this one he took of me.

Ella loved playing in the sand, but wasn't real thrilled when the tide started coming in... she's not a fan of big waves.

Our favorite place to eat, the food was awesome!!

We took a lovely carriage ride through the historic district in Savannah. The horses names were Sonny and Cher and they were very well trained.

My girl climbed all 178 steps to the top of the lighthouse!

We had such a great time that we decided to have a beach week every year. I've already scheduled a Saturday off for next year!

Lisa & John - The wedding!

Lisa and John were married at First Baptist Church in Oakland, and held their reception at the Carnegie Museum. Click here to see Lisa and John's engagement images.

Lisa's ring was amazing.

Lisa and I both really like urban type images, so we went to an alley way in downtown Pittsburgh prior to the wedding to get some shots with the bridesmaids.

I loved, LOVED the way Lisa's shoes looked with the bottom of her dress.

Of course there was a bit of an incident while we were shooting. The police flew past us and parked directly behind the limo where they proceeded to jump out of their vehicles and pull their weapons on some criminal types. I cracked up when I found the image below... there was so much going on that I thought I would label everything. The perp(s) were taken away in handcuffs and my car was unharmed (whew).

The groom before the ceremony.

This could easily be one of my favorite images from this year.

First Baptist Church is beautiful, but it sure is dark! It amazes me what an f/1.4 lens can do.

To demonstrate how dark it was, Craig shot this image of me as I shot the one above.

A couple of images from the columns at Carnegie Mellon University.

Availability

I will be out of the office, with limited access to the internet (how will I survive??), until Monday September 25th. I have had the pleasure of shooting a wedding every Saturday since early May and because I do not have a wedding this weekend, we decided to take a much needed family vacation. More when I return!

Teresa & Jake

Teresa and Jake were married at St. Catherine of Sweden and held their reception at Treesdale Country Club. This image was taken moments after they were married... I love Teresa, she has a magnetic personality and is great fun to be around.

I love this moment... they're about to kiss, the light is perfect AND the wind picks up her veil.

So we're just about done shooting and Teresa says to me, "aren't you going to ask me to lay on the ground or anything??" :))) I love it!! My brides are now asking ME to lay on the ground!! Image by Dave.

This is Yuri... groomsman AND photographer extraordinaire. He's not really a photographer, but I let him play with my 5D and 50 1.4 during the reception.

I think he actually captured a few usable images... like the one below. Although it is not technically perfect (but pretty good for 1600 ISO, f1.4, 1/25s), the moment is much more important. This is Teresa's 91 year old Grandfather, who is clearly having a great time. You should have seen how many ladies he danced with during one polka song.

My birthday!!

My birthday is officially tomorrow, September 11th, but we celebrated a little early this weekend. Here I am with my two favorite girls in the entire world... my wonderful Mom and my sweet angel Ella. I love them both more than words can say.

Although I look slightly annoyed, I like this shot that my husband took of me. He choose a good location to take advantage of the sunset.

These are two of my closest friends, Jody on the left and Hilary on the right. These two have been with me through everything, and the funny thing is that they couldn't be more different. I met Jody at almost the exact same time I met my husband (a VERY good time in my life). She was the maitron of honor at our wedding.

Photoshop

After many requests, I am seriously considering teaching a beginners Photoshop course (geared towards digital photography) at our local community college. Before I make everything official, I need to determine if the interest is great enough to warrant an entire class.

The course would be held in the spring semester at the Community College of Beaver County, which is located in Center Township near the Beaver Valley Mall. It would be held one evening a week for 6-8 weeks and would cost approximately $50.

If you've seen my images and thought... WOW, how did she do that??? Then this course may interest you. Of course I start with great photography, but everything always looks better after I've played with it in Photoshop!

If you are interested, please send an email ASAP to heather@weddingsbyheather.com

We're gonna have a blast, I LOVE this stuff!!!

Marilyn & Bill - The wedding!!

Marilyn and Bill were married at Holy Trinity Ukraninian Catholic Church in Carnegie, and held their reception at the Sheraton Station Square. You may remember Marilyn and Bill from this post regarding their amazing engagement session that we shot in May.

I took several shots of Bill & Marilyn running out of the church because her parents were married in the same church and have a similar shot from their wedding.

I am blown away by this image of Marilyn, she is absolutely stunning.

Bill, Marilyn and I became good friends over the past several months as they prepared for their wedding. As a result, images like this are very special to me because I am overwhelmed with happiness for them as they begin their new lives together. Image by Craig.

On their way to the reception!

This is what happens when I ask my couples to step outside with me for a few moments during the reception... pure magic!!
