Melissa & Josh

Saturday April 22nd was an interesting day... first it would sprinkle, then the sun would come out, and then it would pour down rain. But one thing was constant... Missy and Josh were fantastic! Here is the beautiful bride just before she left for the ceremony.

The guys at the church.

My assistant Dave and I found these arches just outside the basement door at the church; it's so cool when you come across areas like this.

After the ceremony, the happy couple!

Envelopments

As part of my website and identity redesign that I embarked on several months ago, I also designed new marketing materials using Envelopments. I've always loved unique wedding invitations, and my thought was to structure all of my marketing and promotional materials to resemble wedding invitations. Love it!!

I even became an Envelopment reseller due to the volume of materials I would be purchasing. Recently, a few of my brides have asked if they could buy the components for their wedding invitations through me. Of course!! I don't design invitations, but if you plan on making them yourself, or would like materials for your save the date cards, wedding programs, etc, just let me know! They sent me a ton of sample invitations.

You may recognize Envelopments from their ad in Martha Stewart Weddings.

I'm home!

This is my impression of Las Vegas:

I think that image sums it up perfectly... dirt, beer, porn. I had an AWESOME time at the convention and enjoyed the seminars more than words can describe... but I could do without Las Vegas.

Anyway, this is me (obviously) at the wedding we attended. It was pretty chilly that day, and can you imagine having 300 photographers at your wedding!

This is the one image that I captured from the trade show. I love walking around and seeing all of the new products, ideas, albums, etc... although it almost always means that I will be spending money. But it's all good because I LOVE what I do!

Let me preface the below image by saying that I LOVE Celine Dion. I have always been a huge fan, and thanks to the kindness of another photographer I recently met, I had the opportunity to see her in concert while I was in Vegas. Not only did I get to see her, but we sat in the lighting booth and walked around by the stage, etc. Anyway, this was the night before I saw her, and I thought I would practice singing.

My new assistant Dave also attended the convention, he'll be helping me out this summer because my regular assistant is on maternity leave. Dave is a great guy, and I'm sad to say that he has his own business and won't be with me for long, but I wish him all the luck in the world.

The only problem that he has is that he shoots with a Nikon. :( Poor guy, he has so much potential, it's just a little misdirected.

Of course I'm kidding, it's not the camera that matters, it's the artist!

Vegas baby!!!

I'll be leaving tomorrow for the Digital Wedding Forum (DWF) convention in Las Vegas. I attended the first annual convention last year and it was AMAZING... wedding photographers from all over the world converge to attend seminars and learn from one another. It's such an awesome experience, the DWF convention runs in conjunction with the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) conference and tradeshow.

Below are a list of a few of the INCREDIBLE photographers that I'll have the opportunity to hear from.

Becker
Jerry Ghionis
Yervant
Doug & Chenin Boutwell
John Michael Cooper
Ryan Schembri
Jeff & Julia woods
Shawna K
Cliff Mautner
Ray Prevost
Jules Bianchi
David Williams

I thoroughly enjoy attending seminars and conferences as I love to learn about all of the new trends in wedding photography. It helps me to better serve my couples!!

It's gonna be a very intense week, I will have limited access to my phone and email, but will get back to you as soon as possible!

Wedding Planning

The lovely Lisa (9.23.06) stopped by yesterday so that we could work on her schedule for her wedding day, plan locations, etc. She also brought her camera so that I could show her a few things, she actually does really well with her images!

I'm certainly not a wedding planner, but I have seen what works, what doesn't and what can potentially go wrong. A few more of my brides will be sitting down with me in the next few months to do the same thing. I love helping with the planning in any way that I can, so if you have any questions, please give me a call or drop me an email!

Along those same lines, I was thinking about have a "tip of the week," or something similar to help brides with situations or items that are easily forgotten. Stay tuned!

We're home!

We had an AMAZING vacation, it was wonderful to spend the entire week having fun at all of the Disney parks (our favorite was the Magic Kingdom). There were so many first for Ella... which brought me close to tears several times. I just adore that little girl!

She saw the ocean for the first time and loved playing in the surf! We went to the beach straight from the airport (I needed a beach fix), so we didn't have our bathing suits.

The line to meet Ariel in her grotto was relatively short, and Ella was so excited... but by the time she sat next to Ariel, she was really shy (her usual demeanor). She wouldn't talk to her, but she hasn't stopped talking about her encounter ever since!

It was most unfortunate when Ella woke up Tuesday night with a really high fever... especially since she hasn't been sick almost the entire winter (this is our luck). So we spent the better part of Wednesday at a walk-in health clinic, she was diagnosed with strep throat. Poor baby, she's so sweet and wonderful, even when she's sick. We immediately got her on an antibiotic and she perked up in a little more than a day.

As we were leaving for the airport, we when by the beach to gather some sand for a project she was making for Grandpa.
